Paddling the Cumberland Plateau, March 16-21,2013
I was excited that Dr David Herron invited me on his spring holiday Cumberland Plateau paddling trip. Most of the paddlers were members of the Keelhauler Canoe Club. Bud arranged for us to stay at a hostel near Wartburg, TN. Our group was Dave, Bud, Paul, Woody, Doug, Tom, and John. We slept there March 15 and were joined by Trey and Jordan on Saturday for a trip down Clear Creek at 440cfs. On Sunday we paddled the Big South Fork at 1500cfs, Monday the Tellico at 320cfs, Tuesday Crooked Fork Creek at 5ft and Wednesday the Crooked Fork Creek at a lower level. Bud made a video of our run on Clear Creek. I was sorry my arms gave out and I couldn't paddle more days. What a wonderful trip. Can't wait till next year!!! /hugh
