Dardanelles, Bosporus, & Istanbul, Turkey. 10/13/2011
Susan's Story, The Black Sea & Holy Lands
We awoke early on October 12 as the Prinsendam entered the Dardanelles. We transited the Sea of Marmont, entered Istanbul, toured the underground cisterns, and went on a small boat cruise with an excellent guide. On October 13 we visited the grand bazaar, the Blue Mosque, the Hagai Sophia, the Sultan’s harem, and toured the old city. We rarely travel to a nation as welcoming and easy to as Turkey. We sailed out through the Bosporus before dark for our first visit to the Black Sea! As we leave modern, prosperous, historical, welcoming Turkey we wonder what adventures await us along the Black Sea areas of the Ukraine, Russia, & the Crimea /susan
