Trip Across America, April 3, 2011

Lori and Ron moved to Belmont, California and we drove across Interstate 40 to see them. The first night we stopped in Little Rock Arkansas and camped. The second night we stopped at Tucumcari, New Mexico and spent the night in a motel so that I could watch NCAA championship game. The next two nights we camped in Williams, Arizona and hiked the Grand Canyon South rim. We were able to drive all the way to Belmont California the next day. Their new home was wonderful, we helped paint some of the rooms, and I built storage shelves in the garage. We bought them a bed at IKEA. We visited the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and paddled our kayaks in the San Francisco Bay. Susan and I toured Palo Alto and Berkeley California. We had wonderful weather and were very pleased at the amount of green space in her area. Lori and Ron will have to drive much less to get to work. We couldn't have liked the area more! We went on Interstate 80 for the return trip and visited Lake Tahoe and Reno. I paddled the Whitewater Park in Reno. We stayed at Park City, Utah and saw lots of snow. We visited Jeff Woods in Boulder, Colorado and took him to dinner. We went through St. Louis and ended up in Louisville, Kentucky to see Hudson. what a wonderful trip! /hugh
