Cheoah River, March 19, 2011
I drove to the Cheoah River near Robbinsville, NC from Bonnie & Bill's in Carrollton, GA and arrived at bedtime. I camp in my truck at the Lake Calderwood takeout and the weather was beautiful. There was a large group and Amy & Kevin were in my smaller group. The water was warmer than I had seen lately & many were paddling with bare hands. Below Bear Creek Falls I was hit above the left eye with someone's hand paddle and the blood kept me from seeing well enough to continue. I pulled my boat up the steep bank wht my throw rope and two nice couples (one from Ohio & the other from Atlanta) helped me get to my truck & to retrieve my kayak. We posed for a picture the way it looked after they cleaned me up. Can't wait for the April releases!! /hugh
