Cheoah River Whitewater, 4/19/09
I had to work in the hospital delivery suite Fri night and then Susan & I did yard work on Saturday. I have really been working a lot and have not paddled. On top of that, Dan has a torn biceps tendon and Lou is out west paddling the Green River. Many of my friends had paddled the Cheoah River on Saturday and I was excited to meet up with Brian Berg to paddle together Sunday. I was happy that Rob Strangia decided to make his second descent of the weekend with us. We were joined by Nick from New Zealand and Kevin from Dalton. The level had been 1300 cfs Sat & we enjoyed 1000 cfs on Sunday. We all had a great run but I missed the ferry left to make the boof line at the entrance to Bear Creek Falls and ended up making an exciting run down the right middle. We all did well and were still glad to wear our dry suits even though the temp was 50 degrees. What a great day! Next weekend maybe we can get in two runs? /hugh
