Hudson William Weigel Barrow, 6#7oz at 2:36pm 2/3/09

I had taken off the week because Elyse had been found to be 3 to 4 cm last Thursday.Trey called us at 1:30am today that Elyse's membranes were leaking and that they were at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY. I had taken them our 1995 Land Rover Discovery a week ago and it had proven indispensible because of a severe winter ice & snow storm in Kentucky. They just moved into their new home a week ago and now have no electricity. They initially stayed at a hotel close to the hospital but when Patty had power restored, they moved in with her.

We called Bill & Bonnie, Gran, and Lori & Ron and told them we were heading to Louisville. We got up and showered. We decided to come in the truck as the snowstorm was starting back up. I had to move all of my boats & kayaking gear out of the truck. We had been planning to come in the VW but out in the ice I moved all of the stuff into the truck. Our trip was eventful because of ice on I-40 and snow in northern Kentucky. We got to the hospital about 9am and Elyse was 6cm dilated and on Pitocin. Patty and Jessie were there already but Jessie had to go to work. I put a post on the front page of hughbarrow.com, a post on facebook, & we called everyone we knew. By 1:15 Elyse was 9cm dilated and the anticipation was intense.

Finally we heard that the obstetrician was called and I knew it wouldn't be much longer. In the labor/delivery room Susan, Trey, and Patty were with Elyse for the delivery of Hudson William Weigel Barrow 6#7oz at 2:36pm 2/3/09. Everything went wonderfully and I cried the first time I saw Hudson's face. How the Lord blesses us!!! /hugh
