Vortex Springs Diving 1/25/08
Susan & I had planned to go to Florida after Elyse & Trey flew to Israel after Christmas but I got a bad cold that lasted for 3 weeks and interfered with our plans. We drove to LaGrange, GA on Thursday night and on Friday 1/25 arrived at Vortex Springs in Ponce de Leon, Florida. We found that the dive resort had been sold and that my friends Connie & Danny were no longer there but the new staff was pleasant, experienced, friendly, and helpful and we were pleased that prices had been lowered and that a free air fill was included in the admission price. My dry suit had leaked a little in 2005 when Ron & I had come and it leaked a lot last year when I was here. I had the wrist & neck latex seals replaced. I was disappointed that it leaked terribly through the zipper this year so I got home and cut off the hood and am in the process of removing the inflater & exhaust valves to glue gortex across the openings so I can use it for whitewater kayaking in the winter. Susan & I stayed in DeFuniac Springs on Friday night & drove to Destin on Saturday. After attending an antique mart, we drove toward Birmingham for our next adventure. I will need another dry suit. /hugh /hugh
