Thomas Trammell Grave marker Placement, 4/7/07
Hugh Barrow Sr., Lew Barrow, Jamie Barrow, & Ann Harris placed a marker on revolutionary soldier and our forefather Thomas Trammell 4/7/2007 at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetary in Thomaston, Georgia.
THOMAS TRAMMELL was a Revolutionary War soldier from South Carolina. During the Revolutionary War he, his wife Mary, and their children lived in the Union, South Carolina district which is located just east of the present day Spartanburg.
THOMAS TRAMMELL was the great-great-great grandfather of Hugh W. Barrow, Sons of the American Revolution National Number 134490 and Georgia Society Number 2264. These numbers were awarded for the proof of the Revolutionary War service and other details of another great-great-great grandfather, Moses Barrow of North Carolina.
Moses Barrow moved to Washington County, Georgia around 1795 and died there on December 28, 1801. He was buried on his large plantation which was along the east side of Kegg Creek near the village of Deep Step which is located between Sandersville and Milledgeville, Georgia. We have been unsuccessful in locating his grave site. Unfortunately, we believe that the location of the property is now a part of a large kaolin mining operation.
The Veteran’s Administration memorial marker for Thomas Trammell was obtained by presenting proof of the Revolutionary War service of Thomas Trammell with all details of his service and also pension records for his widow, Mary Trammell. The marker was placed in the Antioch United Methodist Church cemetery in April, 2007 by Bonnie and Hugh Barrow and their family. The Antioch Methodist Church is located in Upson County, GA few miles north of Thomaston, GA on US Highway 19. At the time of Thomas’ death, this area was a part of Pike County, Georgia.
