BMW Performance Center, 3/20/06

After Susan had parked her new 5-series BMW we were taken to the BMW Performance Center for performance driving lessons. Along with some others taking delivery of their BMW's we were entrusted to Jim who had been a professional sports car & motorcycle driver. After classroom we were given cars very similar to the ones we bought. We went to the skidpad first and turned off the Electronic Stability Control system. After we were pushing the cars to the limits of traction (& past) we turned the system back on and made much faster & more stable laps. Then we followed Jim onto the road course. On the skid pad I got my turn but on the road course it was all Susan's baby. What a blast!!! And after lunch Jim let us ride the road course with him as he turned very fast (& loud!!) laps in a blue 500hp M5! Then we got a tour and went to the museum (next story.) /hugh
