Vortex Springs Diving, 12/27/2005
Ron lives near the Monterrey Bay in California and always dives with a dry suit but has had to learn in waves and current. He had never been in any Florida springs to dive. I find that my skills advanced most rapidly in diving when I took cave diving classes and dove the consistent depths & temperatures and controlled environment. I was excited that Ron was able to stay even after Lori flew back to California to work. We drove to Montgomery Monday pm after dropping Lori off at the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport and saying goodbye to Susan. We arrived at Vortex Springs mid day and got in 2 dives using mine and Trey's cave diving equipment. It is different diving double tanks and cave diving lights and carrying so much redundant equipment but Vortex Springs is the ideal place to learn to use it. We swam through the tunnels, played with lift bags and reels, and on our last dive we descended to 96 feet into to cave to the gate. Great diving Ron! Where will we dive next?

Unpacking the Rover at the Springs. The dive shop is in the backgournd. Nice to see that Connie has her daughter running the shop so shipshape!

Ron gearing up to dive doubles in his dry suit.

What a pleasant place to go in the winter!
