Niagara Falls 10/1/05
This year we couldn't go to Florida so we vacationed in Niagara, Ontario. We drove through Louisville, KY to see the newlyweds and spent the night just past Cleveland. We took a side trip to the Lake Erie town of Geneva on the Lake, Ohio. We had never seen Lake Erie and were pleasantly surprised how clear blue it was. Then we travelled on through early fall colors across the border to Niagara Falls. We were very impressed what a great family getaway this was in the off season. Neither of us had ever been to the area before. We espedially enjoyed
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and we rode bicycles there. We heartily recommend
Zoom Leisure Tours and Rentals . They rented us well-outfitted Trek bikes and we rode all afternoon along the shores of the Niagara river, along Lake Ontario, and visited wineries. What a wonderful upscale shopping and dining small town. The Falls were more spactacular than we had expected! We especially enjoyed the walk over Peace Bridge to the American side and on to Goat Island. I would have loved to run some of the rapids above below the falls in my kayak! I enjoyed the Classic Iron motorcycle museum in Niagara and we both enjoyed the
Rossi Glass works where Cranberry glass creations are made and the Butterfly Conservatory . We went on a 5-hr tour that included a ride on the famous Maid of the Mist boat up to the 3 falls and a walk into the tunnel under the Canadian (horseshoe) falls. Especially enjoyable was the Skylon Tower where we made more video & photos. /hugh
