The Platters at the Historic Langdale Theater 7/19/2003
When I was a senior at West Point High School my Junior Achievement leader was Mr Bill Gilbert. He has been an inspiration, encouragement, and friend ever since. It had been eight years since I had seen him so I called and was invited to come see the Platters. Mr Gilbert had been instrumental in restoring the historical Langdale Theater which was built in 1937 but closed in the 60's. What a beautiful theater! What a great place for a great concert. Bill was the promoter and the event went off flawlessly. I got the autographs of all of The Platters. I especially enjoyed the virtuoso performance of youth prodigy Bryan Elliott on the Baby Grand! I met Peter Laczik who is visiting from Hungary until Christmas. I really enjoyed Peter's company. We have a lot in common!
On Sunday I went to Sunday School & preaching at the First Baptist Church of Shawmut with Bill and Peter and then we went to lunch before I drove back to Spartanburg.

Mr Bill Gilbert was the Master of Ceremonies along with Bryan Elliott.
The Platters have always been one of my favorites!
