Visit to Santa Cruz, CA, April 2002
In late April Susan and I went to Santa Cruz, CA to visit Lori. When I arrived at the San Jose airport Susan was holding a tiny baby. For a second I was surprised and then I realized this was Elyssa, our friend Ruth Ann's daughter. I looked around and sure enough, there was Ruth Ann with her purple flag and her husband Robert! I was so very glad to see them! They were flying out and had arranged to meet Susan and Lori and they had time to come see me. Then we went to check in at our motel and Lori stayed with us almost every night. I got to meet her roomates Sara, Jenna, and Anna. We spent time at her pastor Bill Garaway's home and we took a day trip to Monterrey to explore, visit the aquarium, and eat a very nice seafood meal. The next day we covered Santa Cruz hitting all of the high spots and we all took out Lori's close friend Ron Fulmer for his birthday. What a great visit! Can't wait to see Lori again when she comes to Birmingham for Trey's law school graduation in May. /hugh
